The intensity of clinical services provided at New Lifestyles establishes it as unique among programs for emerging adults.

Lifestyles students successfully negotiate their daily lives and upon program completion have the skills that allow them to complete college, obtain employment, and live independently as young men and women.

Participants at New Lifestyles are 18 years of age and older and of average to above average intelligence. They have a variety of diagnoses (Axis I) including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, eating disorders, and learning disabilities. In addition, students usually have personality characteristics (Axis II) that include traits of narcissism/entitlement, dependence, avoidance, passive aggressiveness and subtle oppositionalism.

Within the charming community of Old Town, Winchester, Virginia, students live in early 20th century homes, attend college/community college, work and participate in the New Lifestyles program. Our clearly defined and supportive structure includes individual, group, and family psychotherapy; psycho-educational groups; life skills instruction; and a behavioral economy with graduated privileges important to young adults
