New Lifestyles
The intensity of clinical services
provided at New Lifestyles establishes it as unique among programs
for emerging adults. Within the charming community of Old Town,
Winchester, Virginia, students live in early 20th century homes,
attend college/community college, work and participate in the New
Lifestyles program. Our clearly defined and supportive structure
includes individual, group, and family psychotherapy;
psycho-educational groups; life skills instruction; and a behavioral
economy with graduated privileges important to young adults. With
this support, New Lifestyles students successfully negotiate their
daily lives and upon program completion have the skills that allow
them to complete college, obtain employment, and live independently
as young men and women.
Participants at New Lifestyles are 18 years of age and older and of
average to above average intelligence. They have a variety of
diagnoses (Axis I) including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety,
eating disorders, and learning disabilities. In addition, students
usually have personality characteristics (Axis II) that include
traits of narcissism/entitlement, dependence, avoidance, passive
aggressiveness and subtle oppositionalism.
Please see the New Lifestyles web page or call for additional
information, including our brochure and application form. If our
program seems right for you, we invite you to visit us for an
in-depth interview and program orientation. We look forward to the
opportunity to help you or your son/daughter transition to a
successful and independent young adulthood.
