Lakeview School is located on the campus of Lakeview
NeuroRehabilitation Center, Inc., in Effingham, New Hampshire.
Lakeview School is co-ed and serves youth ages 8 to 22 years old.
The Lakeview School is committed to serving youth and adolescents in
the least restrictive environment with a focus on best diagnostic,
educational and therapeutic practices enhanced by positive
behavioral supports. Student diagnoses include but are not limited
to autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury, neurobehavioral
impairments and pervasive developmental delays.
Lakeview provides a range of services from
consultation, providing neuropsychological and behavioral
assessments and guidance for increased classroom success, to Day
School and Residential placement. We offer a 45 to 60 day Interim
Alternative Placement that provides diagnostic clarification,
complete appropriate assessments, stabilization of unsafe behaviors,
comprehensive discharge planning with recommendations for longer
term support and transportable interventions targeted for successful
implementation in the discharge environment.
The assessment is completed by a comprehensive
integrated clinical team. The evaluations include psychiatry,
neuropsychology, neurology, general medicine, physical therapy,
occupational therapy, speech therapy, behavior analysis, nursing
services, and educational services. Lakeview’s care includes regular
family therapy and family training, a highly structured behavior
management environment with 24 hour awake supervision, 1:1 staffing
as necessary for implementation of the ABA program, a focus on
developing positive behavioral supports and the management of
aggressive behavior and dyscontrol within the educational and
residential programs.
Lakeview provides individual and small group
therapy, management of psychopharmacologic regimen, including follow
up with identified community psychiatrist, medication trials
accompanied by behavioral treatment modalities and daily data
collection.
Each youth’s structured school day is based on an
Individualized Education Plan (IEP) , that integrates the findings
of the comprehensive assessment., Students attend school Monday
through Friday, on a year round basis, including a comprehensive
Extended School Year Program (ESY).
Leisure skill development includes activities such
as gardening, basketball, skiing, swimming, hiking, animal care,
canoeing, camping and participation in community events .
Discharge planning begins at admission and realistic
goals are established in consultation with the referring school
district, family, and other stake holders. Youth are discharged to
home and public school settings or to an alternative and least
restrictive setting.
Lakeview NeuroRehabilitation Center is licensed as a
Residential Treatment and Rehabilitation Facility. It is accredited
by both the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation
Facilities (CARF) and by the Joint Commission. Lakeview School is
Special Education approved by the State of New Hampshire Department
of Education. Lakeview School is a member of the National
Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP).
